Milano's 4–0 Victory in Linz Sets Up the Rematch

The first meeting between these clubs produced one of Milano Hockey Club's standout results at the beginning of its inaugural ICE Hockey League campaign.

On September 20, 2026, Milano defeated Black Wings Linz 4–0 at the Linz AG Eisarena in Austria, in front of 3,512 spectators.

Chad Pietroniro opened the scoring in the first period before Blake McLaughlin added two power-play goals. Dante Hannoun completed the victory in the third period, while Milano kept its opponents off the scoresheet.

The result was particularly significant because it came during Linz's first home game of the season, against a Milano team making its debut in the international competition.

November's rematch reverses the home advantage. Black Wings Linz will be looking for a different outcome, while Milano has the opportunity to strengthen its record against the Austrian club.

Black Wings Linz: Established Austrian Opposition

Based in Linz, Upper Austria, the Black Wings are a well-established presence in the ICE Hockey League.

The club has won two Austrian championships, in 2003 and 2012, and regularly competes against leading teams from Austria and neighbouring countries.

For the 2026/27 campaign, the team continues under head coach Philipp Lukas, who has overseen the sporting project since 2022.

Despite losing their first encounter with Milano, the Black Wings demonstrated their competitiveness during the opening months of the season. Their results included a 6–1 victory over EC-KAC, a 5–2 win against HC Pustertal and a 3–2 shootout success over defending champions Graz99ers.

These performances highlight why the November meeting presents an important challenge for Milano.

A Special Away Trip for Linz Supporters

The fixture has also attracted particular interest among the Austrian club's travelling supporters.

Black Wings Linz announced a dedicated fan trip for the November 29 encounter, including a charter flight from Linz to Milan. The initiative allows supporters to travel alongside the team and attend its first away game in the Italian city.

This connection adds another dimension to the match, bringing together local Milano fans and visiting supporters from Austria.

For Milano Hockey Club, the game is part of a demanding first season in the ICE Hockey League, where each regular-season result contributes to the battle for playoff qualification.

The clubs are also scheduled to meet again later in the campaign, making this November fixture another chapter in their developing rivalry.

Sunday Hockey at Fiera Ice Arena

Milano Hockey Club plays its home fixtures at Fiera Ice Arena, located in the Rho Fieramilano exhibition district northwest of central Milan.

The venue opened in 2026 as a new facility dedicated to ice sports, accommodating professional hockey alongside activities for younger players and other ice disciplines.

Situated on Viale degli Alberghi near the Porta Sud entrance, the arena is accessible via Metro Line M1 to Rho Fieramilano. From the station, visitors can reach the venue on foot in approximately 15 minutes.

The 17:00 start makes this a convenient Sunday afternoon event for local supporters, families and visitors spending the weekend in Milan.
