Olimpia Milano at the Unipol Forum

Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano, founded in 1936 and known by its sponsor name EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, plays its home games at the Unipol Forum in Assago, a 12,700-seat arena on the edge of Milan. The club competes on two fronts every season: the EuroLeague, Europe's top club competition, and Italy's Serie A.

That double calendar is what makes a season at the Forum unusual. In the space of a single month the same floor can host a EuroLeague night against a Spanish or Greek champion and a domestic fixture against an Italian rival, with the arena filling differently for each.

The most decorated club in Italian basketball

Olimpia Milano has won 32 Italian championships — more than any other club in the country — the most recent in 2025/26. It was also crowned European champion in 1966, 1987 and 1988, and its trophy room includes a long run of Italian Cups and Supercups.

The record matters on the night. Visiting teams arrive at the Forum knowing the history of the building, and the fixtures against the clubs that have shared that history — above all Virtus Bologna — carry a weight that a league table does not explain.

EuroLeague nights in Milan

The EuroLeague brings Europe's strongest squads to Assago across the autumn, winter and spring. In the current calendar the Forum hosts Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Olympiacos and Fenerbahçe, alongside sides from Lithuania, Serbia, Turkey, Germany, France and Israel.

Each fixture is a single game and is sold on its own date, so the choice is as much about the opponent as about the evening. The games against the Spanish and Greek champions are traditionally the ones that fill first.

The Italian rivalry: Virtus Bologna

Olimpia Milano against Virtus Bologna is the oldest and sharpest rivalry in Italian basketball — the two most successful clubs in the country, meeting in the league and regularly in the latter stages of the Italian Cup. The Forum hosts the Milan leg, and the return is played in Bologna.

Beyond that fixture, the Serie A calendar brings a steady run of home games through the season, and the playoffs in spring decide the scudetto.
