Milano and Salzburg Meet Again in the ICE Hockey League

The teams have already established an interesting starting point for their 2026/27 encounters.

On October 4, 2026, EC Red Bull Salzburg defeated Milano Hockey Club 5–2 at Eisarena Salzburg. The result gave the Austrian club the advantage in their first league meeting, setting up the return fixtures in Milan.

The December 2 game will be their first meeting at Fiera Ice Arena, while the January 8 fixture offers another opportunity for the Italian side to challenge Salzburg in front of its home supporters.

Both matches form part of the ICE Hockey League regular season, where results contribute to the standings and the race for postseason qualification.

EC Red Bull Salzburg: A Club with a Championship Pedigree

Salzburg arrives with a reputation built on sustained success in Austrian and international ice hockey.

The club has won ten ICE Hockey League championships, including four consecutive titles between 2022 and 2025. Its most recent championship came in April 2025, when Salzburg defeated EC-KAC in the final series.

Although the Graz99ers claimed the 2025/26 league title, Salzburg remained a significant competitor, also qualifying for the 2026/27 Champions Hockey League.

This experience at both domestic and European level makes the Austrian side a notable opponent for Milano during its first season in the competition.

Milano Hockey Club's New Chapter

The 2026/27 season marks Milano Hockey Club's introduction to the ICE Hockey League, bringing the city back into a major international club competition.

Milano has already shown its ability to compete against established opponents. Early results included a 4–0 away victory over Black Wings Linz, a 4–2 win against EC-KAC in Klagenfurt and a 7–3 home victory against Pioneers Vorarlberg on October 30.

Facing Salzburg twice at home provides another measure of the Italian team's progress against a club accustomed to competing for trophies.

For local supporters, the fixtures also form part of a wider season featuring clubs from Austria, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia.
