Bologna's Basketball Home

The Virtus Segafredo Arena was inaugurated in November 2019 as a temporary indoor venue inside the BolognaFiere exhibition district, created to give Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna a home worthy of its return to top-level European basketball. Initially set up in Pavilion 30 with a capacity of nearly 10,000 seats, the arena was conceived as a quick-deploy solution while the city planned a permanent replacement.

In November 2021 the arena was relocated to the larger Pavilion 37, increasing capacity to 9,980 seats. A further expansion in late 2025 pushed seating above 10,000 to accommodate growing demand for EuroLeague and Lega Basket Serie A fixtures. A permanent 10,500-seat arena designed by Mario Cucinella Architects is under construction next door and scheduled to open in late 2026.
