Zalgiris brings Lithuanian basketball to Milan

Zalgiris enter the 2026/27 campaign with renewed attention around the team, including the return of Lithuanian centre Jonas Valanciunas to European basketball. Their opening games have again shown the physical and competitive identity traditionally associated with the Kaunas club.

For Olimpia, the game falls in the middle of a four-match home run during November. Managing that sequence successfully could be important in a EuroLeague regular season where every position is contested over 38 rounds.

Peppe Poeta's Milan side combines players with substantial European experience, including Marko Guduric, Darius Thompson and Alec Peters, with a strong Italian core. After sweeping the main domestic trophies in 2025/26, the focus for the new season is also on turning the Unipol Forum into a productive EuroLeague home court.
